Eight thousands participants take charge to start what is billed as "probably the toughest event on the planet." It's the final UK Tough Mudder race of the year - a 12 mile or 19 kilometer track taking them through 25 military-style obstacles such as electric shocks, ice water and mud tunnels. Unlike traditional races, the Tough Mudder race is all about teamwork and camaraderie as it's impossible to finish the race alone. Started in the United States in 2010, the event has grown to become a huge hit with 35 events across the globe in 2012. This race in Malpas is the third in Britain this year, and these "mudders" cross the finish line together with a whole lot of mud in their eyes.
