ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Canadian singer Celine Dion opened the 64th annual Bambi awards in Germany on Thursday night (November 22), a ceremony attended by the country's entertainment elite and broadcast live on national television from the western city of Duesseldorf. Dion is among the recipients of this year's most prestigious media prize in this country which she received in the "entertainment" category. Mexican-born actress Salma Hayek won in the "Film International" category. Asked where she would put her trophy, Hayek said: "I don't know because my daughter is already salivating to get her hands on this and she is like 'Can I have it? Can I have it?' and I'm like, 'It's not a toy'." "I haven't thought about a place but I guarantee you, she has. She is very excited and very proud of me that I'm getting this Bambi," Hayek said. British boy group One Direction won their Bambi in the "Pop International" category, one day after they made Billboard chart history by storming to the top of the 200 album chart with their second album "Take Me Home," holding off competition from Christina Aguilera, Soundgarden and Lana Del Rey. Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner who shot to world fame last month with his supersonic plunge to Earth was given the "Millennium Bambi" for "proving what a human being is capable of if willing to go to the limit." Previous recipients of a "Bambi" award include former U.S. President Bill Clinton, the queen of Jordan, actors Tom Cruise, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and singers such as Shakira and teeny idol Justin Bieber.
