Nov 30 - The day's top showbiz news and headlines including Dr. Dre is 2012's highest paid musician, Katie Holmes is back on Broadway, and Carrie Underwood to star in ''The Sound of Music.'' Bob Mezan reports.

Dr. Dre has topped Forbes' list of the 25 highest-paid musicians in 2012. The veteran hip-hop artist grossed 100 million dollars this year thanks to his extensive back catalog and his lucrative headphones business, Beats by Dre. Katie Holmes returned to Broadway in the new play "Dead Accounts." The former wife of Tom Cruise celebrated opening night with her cast, getting roses and a standing ovation. The play will run on Broadway for 16 weeks. Carrie Underwood has signed on to star as Maria von Trapp in a new version of "The Sound of Music." The country singer will be at the center of U.S. network NBC's live adaptation of the musical, set to air sometime in late 2013. Finally, Gerard Depardieu was arrested by French police after he was allegedly caught drunk driving around Paris on a scooter. According to reports, the actor fell off his scooter catching the attention of police, who took the him into custody. He was later released and will have to appear in court at a later date.
