Best wishes from all corners of the globe for Britain's royal couple after news broke that William and Kate are expecting their first child. White House spokesman Jay Carney passed on a message from across the pond. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JAY CARNEY, WHITE HOUSE PRESS SECRETARY SAYING: "On behalf of everyone here at the White House, beginning with the President and the First Lady, we extend our congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the welcome news this morning out of London that they are expecting their first child." And from Canada - part of the Commonwealth over which the famous baby might one day preside - the Foreign Minister added his comments. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHN BAIRD, FOREIGN MINISTER OF CANADA, SAYING: "Mr. Speaker, I would be remiss, if I first didn't stand up and extend our congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the announcement that came out earlier today." And from Down Under the Prime Ministers of Australia and New Zealand chimed in with some good wishes and some sympathy for Kate's much-publicised morning sickness. (SOUNDBITE) (English) JULIA GILLARD, PRIME MINISTER OF AUSTRALIA SAYING: "Can I start by offering my congratulations to Prince William and Kate on the news that they are expecting a child. This is delightful news that is going to bring joy to them and their family and I think it is going to bring joy to many around the world. Clearly it is a time of joy and it can also be a time of challenge and I'm sure many will be thinking of Kate when she deals with morning sickness and is in hospital." (SOUNDBITE) (English) JOHN KEY, PRIME MINISTER OF NEW ZEALAND SAYING: "Yeah, great news for William and Kate and obviously for the royal family. They'll be very excited. Obviously we wish them very, very well and clearly Kate is going through a bit of morning sickness so there will be a lot of New Zealand women that will be able to sympathise with that and we wish her a speedy and healthy back to fitness and health." The 30-year old Duchess is expected to spend a few more days in hospital before returning home.
