Christmas is going to the dogs in the Peruvian capital of Lima where dozens of pooches spread joy dressed up as holiday icons. The CanNoel Chirstmas parade contest brought together the best Santa look-alikes of the canine world.. or at least some of the cutest. Organizer Eroka Gogin says that the event is to remind people to give their pets the attention they need during the busy holiday season, a joyful time for humans but often not for their pets. SOUNDBITE: ERIKA GOGIN, VETERINARIAN AND LOCAL EVENT ORGANIZER, SAYING (Spanish) "Because now that pets are a part of the family, they play a role in society. So people buy Christmas hats and Christmas clothes for their pets, and they have presents under the tree. So we give people incentive and motivate them to make their pets something important." The best dressed pooches of the day were -- Mrs. Claus, Mr. Claus and their faithful reindeer schnauzer who all took home a coveted Christmas basket.
