At least 10 people including four children were crushed to death during a vigil at a stadium in the Angolan capital Luanda.
The incident happened on Tuesday when people tried to enter the overcrowded stadium.
The gathering was organized by the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God and drew well over the 70,000 person stadium limit, officials said.
More than 100 people are being treated for injuries.
The Pentecostal Christian church was created in 1977 in Brazil.
