An Italian consul came under fire in his car in the Libyan city of Benghazi.

SOUNDBITE: Policeman Usama al-Abbar saying (Arabic):
"Two of the consul's guards informed us of the attack and told us that gunmen fired their weapons at the car. We went with the revolutionaries to the consul's house and we saw the car in the state that you see it. He is unharmed and doing well."
Diplomat Guido de Sanctis's car was hit several times.
Security for Westerners in Libya's second city has been a concern since the U.S. ambassador was killed along with three other embassy staff members there last year.
