Valentino has been described as the standout show at the Spring/Summer Paris Couture Week with its intricate designs and embroidery. SOUNDBITE Maria Grazia Chiuri, saying (English): "We started with the idea of a garden because garden is a special place for us. It's a place where you can feel the natural elements, but also at the same time the couture element." SOUNDBITE Pierpaolo Piccioli, saying (English): "We just wanted to describe the magic of couture and such as in a garden you go and you just feel the beauty you don't feel the precise project beyond." Former accessory designers Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli took over the couture line four years ago taking the Valentino brand to a whole different level. Over at Armani Prive, there was a massive crack for the catwalk. The designs, shown off by zigzaging models in fez hats, were according to the designer a clash of cultural influences. Armani's approach to design is to strike the right balance between understated and luxurious, and Giorgio Armani certainly acheived this with his latest collection.
