A 14-year-old Australian boy was rescued from fast moving flood waters near the town of Rockhampton on Friday (January 25).
Local media reported there have been about 20 swift water rescues in central Queensland since midnight local time.
Torrential rains generated by ex-tropical cyclone Oswald caused flooding in the north of the state and which has now moved south.
Some major highways and more than 70 roads have been cut off across the state, the Australian Newspaper reported.
