Jarrad Clark, global production director at IMG Fashion, says the week has evolved from an industry-only affair to a social event. SOUNDBITE: Jarrad Clark, global production director at IMG Fashion, saying (English): "These events that use to be all exclusive have now become very inclusive. While you still have the golden ticket to come into the shows, you can actually see the shows out in the wider audience through Instagram, through Twitter, through Pinterest, and obviously, through live streaming. And the consumer's appetite is very, very healthy." And this season Rachel Crumbley, senior product trend analyst for Cotton Incorporated, says that appetite will be fed by tons of color, metallic fabrics and shapely silhouettes. SOUNDBITE: Rachel Crumbley, senior product trend analyst for Cotton Incorporated, saying (English): "Green is in the forefront as a theme for color. And we see that not only in emerald green, but also really in a wide variety of green tones being used - from dusty moss greens to vibrant teal to even softer pastel tones." As carpenters and electricians put the finishing touches on the tents, Clark talks about how the venue is evolving. SOUNDBITE: Jarrad Clark, global production director at IMG Fashion, saying (English): "Our lobby area is becoming more of a social hub. You know, the business of fashion is obvious. That happens here. But now we're bringing bars, we're bringing DJs. We're just bringing a nice social environment to this area so that between shows, people can not only be doing their business, but there is also a networking opportunity going on." New York Fashion Week will run from February 7th until February 14th.
Feb. 5 - Fashion fans from around the would will be able to view many of the shows free online. Alicia Powell reports. ( Transcript )
