ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Ooh-la-LA! Leave it to Italian label La Perla to put on what may have been the hottest show in town on Thursday (February 7), the first day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
La Perla's creative director Giovanni Bianchi talked with Reuters Television about where he got his inspiration for Fall 2013.
Spain and its passion for playing with fire gave him the idea for La Perla's "Duende" collection in lace, tulle and silk.
Black and red prevailed. Spanish master painter Francisco Goya influenced the palette for this high-end collection of La Perla silk bodysuits, sleepwear and robes. The clothes borrowed some lines from the drama of the matador's jacket and the sensual swirl of lovers dancing.
The flip side of nice, of course, is naughty. La Perla's Black Label Fall 2013 lingerie collection took its cue from E.L. James' best-selling "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy.
Black, red and nude gossamer lace carried out the La Perla Black Label Collection's playful theme. Models posed in the sexy looks as part of La Perla's presentation at the Dream Hotel near the trendy Meatpacking District in lower Manhattan.
Bianchi paired a black lace corset with long garters and thigh-high stockings with panties cut high to expose a shapely derriere.
Small bows on a La Perla Black Label push-up bra invited the touch.
In fashion, as in life, timing is everything. La Perla's Fall 2013 lingerie presentation came a week ahead of Valentine's Day (February 14). Coincidence or not, that will be the final day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York.
