The northeast is bracing for a blizzard that forecasters say could dump as much as three feet .. or a meter of snow through Saturday... and bring travel to a skidding halt.
Blizzard warnings are in effect from New Jersey to southern Maine... with Boston expected to bear the brunt of the massive storm.
Residents in the storm's path have picked store shelves clean of supplies to prepare for a snowed-in weekend.
Heavy snowfall hit the midwest Thursday and Friday... making commuting more challenging than usual.
The National Weather Service... warning that this northeast blizzard could be a "major, maybe even historic snowstorm" and said in addition to the heavy snowfall expected... winds could gust to hurricane level strength.
