ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: Monique Lhuillier filled her runway with jewel tones of emerald, red and gold framed within a variety of feminine silhouettes as she premiered her new collection at Mercedes Benz New York Fashion Week on Saturday (February 9).
"For Fall 2013, it's very dramatic. It's a striking, and mesmerizing collection. I drew inspiration for the colors from a malachite rock. And so I pulled the emerald greens and the blacks and just all these beautiful jewel tones and you'll see that sprinkled throughout the collection," said the designer.
At the beginning of the show, Lhuillier showcased neutral tones before transitioning to the climactic and colorful evening looks she is known for.
Butterfly prints on jackets, cocktails dresses and pants fit in between several black web lace looks which she considered some of her favorite from the collection. Lace pieces played a pivotal role in the line that aims to give women great movement and options for evening wear.
The Filipino born designer also debuted her second shoe collection featuring a twist on booties and strappy heels.
