It takes a lot to look this good. From primping and brushing to blow drying, thousands of dogs are getting their final grooming in before they hit the floor at the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. This year there are more than 2,700 canines in competition. For some, like Kid Rock, the pressure is on. His owner Susan Giles, says the Lhasa Apso has a lot to prove. SOUNDBITE: Susan Giles, Lhasa Apso Kid Rock's owner, saying (English): "He has a lot to live up to because his aunt won the breed here twice. His uncle won the breed here last year and his grandfather won the breed here three times. So he's got a lot to live up to." In the canine world, Westminster sets the standard for dog shows, so winning a title here earns a dog considerable prestige. Dog owner Lexi Neel is here with her Lowchen, "Roary." Fluffing the female pooch's hair properly can take some work, but it's all part of preparing for her big moment in the spotlight. SOUNDBITE: Lexi Neel, Owner of Roary, a Lowchen, saying (English): "Her mother actually won Best of Breed here in 2009, so we are hoping to make it a second generation win, but she loves to show and she knows it's her job." After spending so much time getting ready, the walk to the stage can be nervewracking for some. But there is no time for stage fright. Once they arrive on the floor judges begin picking the best in seven categories. The top dog's will go on to compete for the Best in Show title at Madison Square Garden.
