Carnival is coming to a close but the party continues in Rio de Janeiro. Thousands of people hit the Carmelitas block party - one of the largest in the city.
This particular "festa" is thrown in honor of a convent in the Santa Teresa neighborhood, where legend has it, a nun ran away from the convent for several days to join in the festivities.
Rio's Carnival stems from the tradition that some Catholics need to get sins out of their system before the austere season of Lent.
And while revelers are certainly letting loose, the Holy See is still on people's minds in the world's largest Catholic country.
SOUNDBITE: Reveler Edson Rocha saying (Portuguese):
"The next Pope will be here next Carnival, dancing the samba with us at the Carmelitas block party."
That may not be likely, but who knows, at Carnival, anything can happen…
