South Korea debuts cruise missiles

Feb. 14 - South Korea says its cruise missiles are accurate enough to shatter the office windows of the North Korean leadership amid heightened tension on the peninsular. Sarah Charlton reports.

Test footage of these long range cruise missiles was shown in Seoul on Thursday (February 14). The weapons have now been fully deployed. Officials say the missiles are so accurate, they can shatter the office windows of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. SOUNDBITE: (Korean) SOUTH KOREAN DEFENCE MINISTRY SPOKESMAN KIM MIN-SEOK SAYING: "The cruise missile unveiled today is a precision-guided weapon that can pick and strike a window of the North Korean leadership's office. It has a deadly destructive power which is able to restrain the enemy's activities threatening our free democracy, in case of an emergency." The news comes hot on the heels of North Korea's third nuclear test, which triggered international condemnation. North and South Korea are still technically at war after the conflict in the 1950s ended in a truce.
