Sealed with a kiss, DC Comics' most famous LGBT character, Batwoman, proposes to her detective girlfriend. Thor Parker from New York's Midtown Comics says "Batwoman number 17" is a doubly exciting issue as it also reveals the superhero's true identity. SOUNDBITE: Thor Parker, social marketing and events director, Midtown Comics, saying (English): "It's always exciting to see that kind of stuff happen in comics because, you know, they are trying their best to mirror what's happening in the real world. So, this is a big deal in reality, they try to reflect that in comics." Readers in the store seemed less than inspired by the news. SOUNDBITE: Melvin, saying (English): "I guess different strokes for different folks." SOUNDBITE: Mark, saying (English): "It's been a long time coming I guess." It's not the first same-sex union in the comic world. Marvel Comics broke new ground in 2012, when gay superhero, Northstar of the X-Men series, married his boyfriend. But readers shouldn't expect a Batwoman wedding invitation just yet. SOUNDBITE: Thor Parker, social marketing and events director, Midtown Comics, saying (English): "It ended as a cliffhanger, so we are not sure if she's saying 'Yes' or if she's saying 'No' or if the wedding will even happen. You know comics are crazy. A lot of things can go wrong so we'll see. We have to wait for the next issue." And we'll have to wait and see if same-sex marriage is acknowledged in comic book Gotham City.
