Taiwan's annual lantern festival gets underway.
Once the official ceremony is over, it's time for the beehive firecrackers.
So named because the structures housing the fireworks resemble beehives.
And with sparks flying in all directions, it's vital to wear protective gear.
But that doesn't always guarantee an injury-free experience, as this man confirms.
SOUNDBITE: Unnamed festival participant, saying (Taiwanese):
"It was only a small injury. I didn't feel anything; it was only a small blast."
The two-week festivities mark the beginning of the Lunar New Year.
