Three killed, several injured in Switzerland factory shooting

Feb. 27 - A Swiss factory worker shot two colleagues dead and injured seven more on Wednesday at a wood processing plant near the city of Lucerne. Deborah Gembara reports.

Three people are dead and at least seven are injured following a shooting at this factory not far from Lucerne, Switzerland.
Emergency teams were on the scene at the wood processing plant shortly after it started. The suspected gunman is believed to be among the dead.

SOUNDBITE: Daniel Bussman, from the Criminal Investigation Department of the city of Lucerne saying (German):
"The suspect is a long-time employee of Kronospan, he is a Swiss citizen. As I said, we can not comment on his motives and what has led to this. That has to be scrutinized when checking the suspect's background."
Residents of the town say they're shocked by the news.
SOUNDBITE: Menznau Villager, Claudia Reis saying (German):
"I have been nervous all day long and each time my phone rang I have been hoping that it wasn't one of my friends saying her husband or son was involved. I'm still very nervous and the entire village is very quiet."
The shooting is the second one in Switzerland in recent weeks, and is likely to fuel talks about gun control in the country.
