**WARNING - STORY CONTAINS GRAPHIC IMAGES** The crackle of gunfire and artillery --- these are the only constants in Homs where government forces are in a gritty street by street battle for control. President Bashar al Assad's forces are reportedly intensifying their efforts there, bringing in more tanks and soldiers, in this latest video posted to a social media website. Rebel hopes that western powers, particularly the U.S. would provide them with weapons ... were dashed last week when Secretary of State John Kerry offered non-lethal aid. Kerry spoke on Monday in a visit to Saudi Arabia. SOUNDBITE: U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry saying: "There is no guarantee that one weapon or another might not at some point in time fall into the wrong hands." Rebels say they've managed to hold the central part of Homs, pointing to piles of Syrian soldiers they say we're trying to conduct a raid there. Perhaps the only thing both sides here might agree on is the fact that any gains in the nearly 2-year conflict are shortlived.
