BAFTA might be most synonymous with movies, but since 2003, the British Academy has celebrated the artistry involved in everything about the video game industry. "Dishonored!" ...was the big winner of the evening. The game, which follows an assassin seeking revenge on those who've wronged him, changes its gameplay based on the player's actions. Christophe Carrier, Lead level designer, Dishonored: "For all the efforts we've done for so many years and finally players recognised that and we're thankful because it's great." It may not have won the big prize, but the small budget experimental project "Journey" scooped just about every other award. Robin Hanicke, Executive Producer, Journey: "We're all standing here because we believe that games can really move people and give them feelings, new feelings that they haven't had before so I think it means we're breaking new ground and I think that's something a lot of developers are inspiring to now." First person shooter "Far Cry 3" won the coveted Best Action Game award, while the Best Story award went to "The Walking Dead" whose writers insist that storytelling in games by putting the player as the lead character has come into its own recently. Jake Rodkin, Co-writer, The Walking Dead: "You have the opportunity to take them to a really odd place which isn't necessarily better but it's definitely different from what you'd get with other mediums like literature, film, theatre, whatever and I think people should do more of that because it's cool." The evening was finished off with a tribute to Gabe Newell the man behind "Half Life" and "Portal 2", who is now one of the richest people on the planet thanks to the popularity of the gaming industry.
