North Korea's state-run television on Saturday (March 9) showed footage of the North's soldiers vowing to destroy the United States.
A news programme aired images that appeared to show soldiers during military exercises chanting against the United States.
"Destroy American imperialist aggressors, the deadly enemy of North Korean people," one soldier shouted.
"If the aggressors dare to light the fuse, they will have the agony of a miserable destiny from that moment," threatened soldier Han Yong-Nam, adding: "The stronghold of our enemy will be completely destroyed by our unlimited righteous and retaliatory attack."
North Korea threatened the United States on Thursday (March 7) with a pre-emptive nuclear strike and has scrapped the armistice with Washington that ended hostilities in the 1950-53 Korean War.
That followed its third nuclear test on Feb. 12, in defiance of U.N. resolutions, drawing further U.N. Security Council sanctions against the reclusive East Asian state.
