Syrian rebels in Deir-al Zor are calling this attack on a military convoy a victory.
They say the vehicles belong to one of the army's more heavily armed brigades and cheered as they assessed their handiwork according to this video posted to a social media website whose content Reuters cannot independently verify.
The attack along the Euphrates River came on a weekend that saw heavy fighting throughout Syria. There were reports of heavy shelling in Homs while locals in Aleppo pulled at least 23 bodies from a nearby river.
The cause of death in each case wasn't immediately clear although some reportedly showed serious wounds to the head.
