Oprah tops Forbes' list of most influential celebrities of 2013. Her high profile interview with Lance Armstrong contributed to her "marketing effectiveness," this according to Forbes. The poll was based on factors like cultural awareness, appeal and likability. Rounding out the list's top five were movie directors Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Ron Howard and George Lucas.
Oscar winner Ang Lee is moving over to TV. U.S. cable channel FX said that the filmmaker will direct the pilot episode of its drama "Tyrant," about an unassuming American family drawn into the affairs of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation. It's Lee's first venture into TV directing and his first project since 2012's "Life of Pi," the tale of a young Indian boy shipwrecked with a tiger that won four Oscars in February.
Rapper Jay-Z put a modern jazz twist on "The Great Gatsby" soundtrack. The film will open the Cannes film festival in mid-May. The hip-hop star collaborated for two years on the score with director Baz Luhrmann. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the lead role of the mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby in the 3D movie based on F. Scott Fitzgerald's novel of 1920s America.
Selena Gomez and fellow Disney alum Vanessa Hudgens appeared all grown up as they arrived on the red carpet for the premiere of their new film, "Spring Breakers." The movie stars Gomez and Hudgens as bikini-clad revelers on a drink-and-drug-fuelled orgy of beach parties and pranks. The film opens on March 22.
