EDITORS NOTE: THIS EDIT CONTAINS CONVERTED 4:3 MATERIAL (ROUGH CUT ONLY - NO REPORTER NARRATION) Egyptian President Mohammad Mursi arrived in Pakistan on Monday (March 18) for a one-day state visit at the invitation of the President Asif Ali Zardari. Mursi is the first civilian and democratically-elected President of Egypt to visit Pakistan. The last bilateral visit was by late Gamal Abdel Nasser in the 1960s. He was received at the Noor Khan Airbase by officials of the Foreign Office and Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Mushahid Hussain Syed. Ambassadors of many Arab countries were also present at the airbase to receive the Egyptian President. The Egyptian leader was scheduled to come to Pakistan for the D-8 summit in November last year but could not do so because of his involvement in the lengthy peace talks after Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip and other domestic engagements. Mursi, who is leading a high powered delegation, will hold a one-on-one meeting with Zardari, followed by delegation-level talks in which bilateral relations, regional and international issues of mutual interest are expected to be discussed. Various trade agreements between the two are also expected to be signed. After attending a state banquet by Zardari, Mursi will address a gathering at Pakistan's National University of Science and Technology (NUST), where he will be awarded an honorary doctorate in philosophy.
