This two month old baby gorilla is being raised by human surrogates after she was abandoned by her birth mother at a Texas zoo. Gladys was transferred to a zoo in Cincinnati, where 10 humans are fostering her. Zoo officials say it could take several months until one of the female gorillas can step in. The surrogates try to mimic the things a gorilla mother would do with her baby, like crawling around and making gorilla sounds. Zoo officials say Gladys is developing well and growing quickly. She can support herself on all fours and has enough teeth to enjoy cooked sweet potatoes and carrots.
