An emotional day for relatives and friends of victims of the Aurora movie theater shooting.
Prosecutors say they are seeking the death penalty against James Holmes, the alleged gunman.
Bryan Beard's friend Alex was one of the 12 people killed last July during a midnight showing of the latest Batman movie.
SOUNDBITE: Bryan Beard, friend of Aurora shooting victim Alex Sullivan saying:
"The only way that death will receive justice, when somebody murders somebody else, is death. I guess you fight fire with fire. It sounds awful, but I'm tired of being so politically correct. You know, if somebody takes and eye, you can't just be like - slap on the wrist. You can't."
Last week, prosecutors rejected an offer from Holmes' legal team in which he would plead guilty and serve a life sentence if the death sentence was taken off the table.
Denver attorney Scott Robinson believes Holmes' legal team will now move to enter a plea of "not guilty by reason of insanity."
SOUNDBITE: Denvery attorney Scott Robinsonson saying:
"The defense cannot win a trial on the merits. The risk that Holmes will be executed is so great that they would be derelict to raise sanity if there is any basis for it at all."
Holmes is charged with multiple counts of murder and attempted murder in the shooting rampage, which also wounded 58 moviegoers.
