ROUGH CUT - NO REPORTER NARRATION Two crew aboard a twin-engined aircraft landed safely without a nosewheel at a regional airport in Australia on Wednesday (April 03). Local media said the pilot and co-pilot reported to air traffic control at Toowoomba airport in Queensland their nosewheel had not deployed properly before carrying out a fly-past which allowed observers on the ground to confirm the undercarriage was faulty. ABC News said the pilot, Mark Crampton, managed to touch down without injury after sliding along the runway on the nose of the Beechcraft Baron 58. The incident will be investigated but local media said the pilot had heard a loud clunk when he was retracting the undercarriage shortly after take off.
