Syrian rebels say they've made major gains in the southern province of Deraa. Fighters are now in the control of an air force base after a ten-day battle with the military.
More worrying to Damascus are reports that rebels captured a checkpoint leading into Jordan, according to new video posted to a social media website who content Reuters cannot indepdently verify. For the government, losing control of the highway is critical to resupplying forces throughout the area
Fighting throughout the country doesn't appear to be letting up. Rockets fell on the capital overnight and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights say March was the bloodiest month in the now more than two-year conflict. More than 6,000 people were killed in Syria in March alone, a third of them civilians.
