ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) Amateur video uploaded to the internet on Sunday (April 7) purported to show the aftermath of an air strike by a Syrian air force jet on the Aleppo district of Al-Ansari. The video appears to show widespread destruction to apartment blocks and a large and noisy crowd attempting to rescue survivors. The victims of the attack are said to have been civilians. The eastern half of Al-Ansari district is under the control of the rebel Free Syrian Army and has been bombed and shelled frequently by government forces. Fighting in Aleppo intensified after opposition rebels pushed into the strategic Sheikh Maqsoud district on March 29. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group, the disputed district was bombed on Saturday (April 6) killing 15 people, including nine children. A second clip said to have been shot in Jobar, a rebel-controlled suburb northeast of Damascus, appears to show rebel fighters targeting a Syrian army tank and two armoured personnel carriers (APCs). As the tank and the two APCs travel down a main road, they are attacked by rebels using rockets. The military vehicles appear undamaged and withdraw from the area. A voice is heard saying that the tank was a T-72 and that the Al-Maghawir Collective, Al-Ghouta Knights and Al-Sham Mujahideen rebel groups were behind the ambush. Rebels fighting to overthrow President Bashar al-Assad began moving into Jobar last July and the area has suffered heavy shelling from government air strikes and artillery since then. In a television interview with a Turkish broadcatser on Friday (April 5) the Syrian president vowed to re-capture Jobar within one week. In a third clip, while filming what is said to be an area devastated by shelling around the Suqayna shrine in Daraya, an amateur camerman captures the moment a shell slams into a nearby building. Daraya, a devestated suburb that lies southeast of the capital Damascus, has witnessed several months of bloody street-to-street fighting between rebels and the Syrian army. Rebels hold several eastern and southern districts of Damascus and pose a growing challenge to the government in the southern province of Deraa - cradle of the two-year uprising - which could become a platform for a fiercer assault on the capital.
