Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev posted links to Islamic websites and others calling for Chechen independence on what appears to be his page on a Russian language social networking site.
The 19 year-old ethnic Chechen is believed to have moved to the United States several years ago.
He and his 26 year-old brother Tamerlan once lived in Russia's Dagestan region.
Bombings and gun battles are a near daily occurrence in this restive area, many of them blamed on militants who say they want to create an Islamic state.
In 2001-2 Tsarnaev attended this Dagestani school.
The headmaster says Tsarnaev and his three siblings arrived as refugees from Kyrgyzstan.
Surveillance pictures of the suspects were released on Thursday.
Tsarnaev's brother Tamerlan, also a suspect in the bombings, was shot by police during a manhunt on Friday.
