While the Starship Enterprise is about to take off for its second mission in the J.J.Abrams rebooted franchise, the cast and crew were touching down in Sydney for the premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness down under.
Abrams, who is slated to direct the new Star Wars film, has never done a sequel to one of his own movies.
SOUNDBITE (English) Director J.J. Abrams, saying:
"I It was very surreal continuing the story with these actors on these sets because I felt like we did it it was very special and all of a sudden you're back doing it again. But I think this movie goes further it's much bigger and much more of an adventure than the last one and it's a thrill to get to do it."
The sequel sees the return of Zachary Quinto's Spock and of course, the rough around the edges Captain of the Enterprise James T.Kirk, played by Chris Pine.
SOUNDBITE (English) Chris Pine, saying:
"It's a lot of fun I love Kirk. Kirk's a man of passion who's ruled by his heart. He'll go from crying to laughing to yelling to loving and I just love his passion."
The first installment of the rebooted Star Trek franchise was loved by the critics and made $385 million US dollars at the worldwide box office. We'll have to see if the sequel lives up to the hype when Star Trek Into Darkness begins its global release from May 9th.
