April 25 - Dogs take over the catwalk in Mexico City as pampered pooches show off the latest spring fashion for canines. Elly Park reports.

Fashion is going to the dogs in Mexico City as pampered pooches showed off the latest trends in canine fashion. Mexican designers such as Pineda Covalin reimagined their signature human looks for the dog-walk, creating a bright and playful spring collection. The show was the third of its kind in Mexico City and represents a huge shift in the country's growing pet culture, says organizer Elsa Madrid. SOUNDBITE: Fashion Show Organiser, Elsa Madrid, saying (Spanish) "In Mexico, the culture has changed and pets have become more important." So much so that market research firm Euromoniter has ranked it in the top 10 countries for dog ownership. VIP or "Very Important Pooch" of the day was "Lemon Pie" whose paws were allegedly chopped off by a brutal drug gang.
