STORY: Still riding high after the announcement of the Tony Award nominations, the contenders gathered in a New York hotel to greet the press on Wednesday (May 1).
Pop-star and now Tony Award nominee Cyndi Lauper said she leaped for joy upon hearing the news about her nomination for best original score written for the theater for the musical "Kinky Boots."
"I was jumping up and down and yelling. It's awesome to see everybody acknowledged because everybody worked so hard, really and truly. I know, I was there," said Lauper.
The musical leads the pack of nominations with 13.
The Tony Awards will be handed out on June 9th at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
