Father and son duo Will and Jaden Smith hit red carpet in Japan

Proud dad Will Smith was impressed with how hard his son Jaden worked on their upcoming movie After Earth, while joking with the teenager about stealing a fan's pen. Sarah Mills reports.

Popular father and son duo Will and Jaden Smith are back sharing the big screen together. Following on from the success of drama The Pursuit of Happyness, this time they've teamed up for sci f thriller - After Earth. Speaking at the movie's Japan premiere in Tokyo Will was full of praise for his 14-year-old son: Soundbite (English) Actor Will Smith, saying: "It's one thing when you have to push kids, and push them and motivate them and got to get them to do the things you want them to do, but he's very disciplined and hard working and I just love the (noticing Jaden) - you stole somebody's pen. (Jaden Smith:"No I got this one.") No, you stole that from somebody, you went over there and stole a pen.'' Directed by M. Night Shyamalan, Will and Jaden play a father and son who find themselves stranded on earth 1000 years after the last human was forced to abandon the planet. Although shooting in Cosa Rica was strenuous - the fun pair enjoyed the experience: Soundbite (English) Actors Will Smith and Jaden, saying: (Jaden): "Ah, it was fun." (Will): "Ya, I had a good time. Did you enjoy yourself?" (Jaden): "I had a good time." Will: "I guess I should have asked you that before today." (Jaden): "Ya you should have asked me that before today." After Earth is due to open in the US at the end of May and in Japan by June 21st.
