ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: The Inspector General of Police of Pakistan's restive Balochistan Province narrowly escaped a suicide attack on Sunday (May 12) that killed at least six people and wounded 46 others, officials said. Officials said the IGP had just entered his residence in Quetta when a suicide bomber in a vehicle laden with explosives blew himself up outside the house. Officials confirmed that at least two policemen, three paramilitary soldiers and one passerby were killed outside the inspector general's residence. At least 46 others were injured, including children who got cuts from flying splinters of glass.. The IGP was not hurt in the incident. Bomb disposal squad officials told reporters a huge amount of explosives were packed into the vehicle and the blast left a deep crater . Residents said the explosion was so loud that it was heard all over the city. The windows of several government buildings nearby were smashed. There was some damage to the four-story building of Quetta Press Club. Rescue teams and law enforcement agencies shifted the dead and injured to the hospital. Earlier in the day six rockets were fired into the city from an unknown location, injuring several people including children, officials said.
