65-year-old crowned Most Beautiful in elderly beauty pageant

May 13 - Brazilian women compete in a beauty contest for elderly women. Sharon Reich reports.

It's never too late to become a beauty queen.
Just ask 65-year-old Irenilda de Oliveira Meneses. She is proudly wearing her tiara after being voted Brazil's most beautiful elderly woman.
SOUNDBITE: Irenilda de Oliveira Meneses, Beauty pageant winner, saying (Portuguese):
"We came out here to dance, to have fun, to parade around, and we succeeded. [Winning] it's really emotional. Very emotional. I am so swept away I am speechless. I am still speechless."
Out of 200 ladies that tried out for the competition, 25 finalists were selected.
87-year-old Maria Helena Fernandes was the oldest beauty vying for the crown.
SOUNDBITE: Maria Helena Fernandes, 87-year-old contestant, saying (Portuguese):
"I think like this. We have to take advantage of life as much as we can, with our health, happiness. Today, I am way too happy to be here. I feel like a twenty year old girl."
Contestants were judged on several criteria, including their smile, congeniality, elegance and beauty.
The competition coincided with Mother's Day and serves as a reminder that age, is just a number.
