24% is today's daily digit - the increase in pre-orders at Amazon for Dan Brown's new blockbuster compared to his previous book. The author of the Da Vinci Code has sold more than 200 million copies of his previous novels. This latest book, Inferno, looks set to increase that tally significantly and become the best selling book ot the year.. Queues formed early at one London branch of Waterstones. SOUNDBITE: Unidentified male shopper, saying (English): "Hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones to get the book, I'm number 5 in the queue so it should be all right." SOUNDBITE: Unidentified female shopper, saying (English): "I loved the first book when it came out years ago, so I've been waiting for the new one." Infact it's 10 years since the Da Vinci Code was released. It was slammed by literary critics and there's been a similar response to Inferno. But Waterstone's John Howells says that's unlikely to dent sales. John Howells, Waterstones, saying (English): "I think each time he releases a book he breaks records. Four years ago he came out with the Lost Symbol, which broke records all over the world, sold incredibly well for months and then came back at Christmas, it was the Christmas number 1. I can see the same thing happening with Inferno." Inferno sees the return of fictional symbologist Robert Langdon. It's already reached the highest level of customer pre-orders at Waterstones since last year's release of "The Casual Vacancy" by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling.
