Emeli Sande and Gavin Rossdale big winners at Ivor Novellos

Emeli Sande wins two Ivor Novello Awards, but is unable to collect it. Stars in attendance included Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Noel Gallagher, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale and Lily-Rose Cooper.

ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Emeli Sande was the big winner at Thursday's (May 16) Ivor Novellos, scooping two awards for songwriting and composing. However the star was unable to collect her trophies due to work commitments in the United States, but later tweeted her excitement: "Woke up to the best news!!!!! 2 Ivor Novellos!!!!!," she wrote on Twitter. "Wish I could have been there, that would have been one excited speech!" Despite Sande's absence, the event was packed with music stars out to celebrate one of the most respected award shows by music insiders. Guests included Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Noel Gallagher, who won the prize for Outstanding Song Collection, and Lily-Rose Cooper, who joked about how she uses her Ivors as doorstops. Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale won the Ivor for international achievement. Other winners included English singer-songwriter Marc Almond who took the Inspiration Award and British indie band alt-J who scored another best album accolade for their record "An Awesome Wave".
