May 20 - The Egyptian army sends reinforcements into the Sinai Peninsula after seven members of the security forces were abducted last week. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

Last week seven members of Egypt's security forces were kidnapped by militants in Sinai Now they beg for the president to rescue them. They say they can't take the torture anymore. They call on the government to release political detainees from Sinai so they can be freed. Reuters cannot independently confirm the content of the video, which was obtained from a social media website. But instead of talks the Egyptian government is sending in reinforcements. Radical Islamists have expanded into a security vacuum in Sinai, launching attacks on Israel and targets in North Sinai. The military buildup comes as Egypts' President Mohamed Mursi said he would not to submit to blackmail by kidnappers demanding the release of jailed Islamists. The kidnappers are demanding the release of militants convicted last year of attacks that killed seven people, including six members of Egypt's security forces, in 2011.
