May 21 - U.S. President Barack Obama offers prayers and resources to Oklahoma after a tornado leaves a trail of death and destruction. Deborah Lutterbeck reports.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "Our Prayers are with the people of Oklahoma right now" After a violent tornado tore through Oklahoma U.S. President Barack Obama is pledging full support in their recovery effort. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "As a nation right now our focus right now is on the full work of rescue and the hard work of recovery and rebuilding that lies ahead. yesterday I spoke with Governor Fallon and to make it clear to Oklahomans that they would have all the resources that they need at their disposal." The twister ... believed to be 2 miles -- or about three kilometers wide -- tore through parts of Oklahoma Monday leaving behind a trail of utter devastation. (SOUNDBITE) (English) U.S. PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA SAYING: "We don't yet know the full extent of the damage from this week's storm, we don't know both the human and the economic losses that may have occurred so our prayers are with the people of Oklahoma today and we will back up those prayers with deeds as long as it takes. The Oklahoma City suburb of Moore, Oklahoma bore the the brunt of the tornado -- leaving residents of the town of about 50,000 people stunned at the devastation and loss of life.
