ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: The first trailer for upcoming film "Diana" released on Wednesday (June 12) offered a glimpse into actress Naomi Watt's portrayal of the late British royal, Diana, Princess of Wales.
The minute-long trailer doesn't reveal Watt's face as Diana until mid-way through, and features no dialogue.
Instead, viewers are given glimpses of what the film will explore, namely the last two years of Diana's life including her charity work with land mines in Africa, her relationship with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan and her fraught relationship with the paparazzi that ultimately led to her sudden death in 1997.
Phrases such as "an icon," "adored by millions," "the most famous woman in the world" and "who became the people's princess," are overlapped with the clips from the film over a rousing film score.
The film "Diana," directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel, will be released on September 20 in Britain, and later in the fall in the United States.
