Wildfires rage in Colorado. The fires burned as many as 100 homes just outside of the state's second largest city Colorado Springs. The blaze, first ignited Tuesday and quickly ripped through Colorado's Black Forest. Evacuation notices went out to about 2,600 homes housing 7,300 people. Authorities are doing what they can to contain the blaze as people try to cope with what has been lost. As the flames spread near Colorado Springs, a separate fire prompted the evacuation of the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, a major tourist attraction in the state. The bridge itself was not threatened by the flames, but fire managers said the river was closed to rafting. Investigators are still seeking the cause of both fires. The National Weather Service said that warm temperatures and high winds have produced "very high to extreme fire danger" in the state for most of the week.
