The yard at Lima's Lurigancho prison comes to life as 1,200 inmates take part in a massive aerobics class - possibly the world's biggest says the center's director.
SOUNDBITE: Colonel Tomas Garay, prison director, saying (Spanish):
"The objective on June 14 is to set a new Guinness Record and show the world that it's possible to change: that although they have lost their freedom, they have not lost their right to life."
And prisoners seem to agree: since the project started, their lives have been altered dramatically.
SOUNDBITE: Inmate Miguel Angel Suarez, saying (Spanish):
"There has been a radical change in the prison and this is because of the work of the colonel and the work of all the guys who have been here."
And in a crowded prison, mass aerobics is surely a move in the right direction.
