Family and friends of James Gandolfini visited a Rome morgue on Friday (June 21) where the actor's body is being held following his death on Wednesday (June 19).
The visit came on the same day that autopsy results were released. The official cause of death was declared a heart attack, of natural causes. The autopsy further states that nothing else was found in his system. Among those visiting the morgue were Gandolfini's sister Leta as well as his friend Michael Kobald.
The 51-year old Gandolfini was in Rome on vacation with his son, who found him collapsed in the bathroom of his hotel room.
Gandolfini, whose performance as Tony Soprano made him a household name and helped usher in a new era of American television drama, had been scheduled to attend the closing of the Taormina Film Festival in Sicily on Saturday (June 22).
