The Daily Digit is 56.4 million. That's the number of cable video customers in 2012. That number has been falling steadily since 2001, according to the National Cable & Telecommunications Association's website, citing research from SNL Kagan. And even as the number of cable subscribers falls- the battle for who gets those eyeballs may be about to heat up. Time Warner Cable's status as the second biggest US provider- behind Comcast- makes it a prime target- perhaps for Charter Communications according to a Bloomberg report. In addition to getting more subscribers- they would also have new resources to deal with rising programming costs. Time Warner Cable itself working to adapt to the changing landscape: it just announced subscribers will be able to access 300 live TV channels using Microsoft's Xbox 360.
