(Boom) Explosions in every different direction (Boom from behind) this was the Syrian city of Homs on Saturday. President Bashar al-Assad's forces launched a major offensive on the rebel stronghold, according to this video posted to a social media website whose content Reuters cannot indepedently verify.
Activists say jets and tanks pounded the area. The ground and air attacks are part of the military's plan to secure a supply route between the capital and cities along the Mediterranean. There were no immediate details on casualties
The renewed focus on Homs follows steady military gains by Assad's forces in towns close to the Lebanese border.
