ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION) STORY: Naomi Campbell was the star of the catwalk at Donatella Versace's couture show on the opening day of Paris couture week on Sunday (June 30). It was the first time the 43-year-old top model had cat-walked for Versace since the tragic death of Gianni Versace, murdered in 1997. It's also her first show since Campbell got violently attacked in the French capital earlier this year. She had been mugged by two men on motorbikes, who tried to steal her bag, in the capital's trendy Marais neighbourhood. Campbell wowed audiences wearing a black micro sequin jacket constructed using hook and eyes to hold it together. Playing with light, the team of designers headed by Donatella Versace chose tiny sequins for the collection, creating shimmering fabrics thanks to the use of crystals. American actress Uma Thurman called the show "spectacular." Fellow American actor Zachary Quinto, called Campbell's surprise appearance "unbelievable." "Wehre to start and where to finish," he told waiting media after the show. Versace was founded by the late Gianni Versace in 1978. Donatella Versace took over the reins following the death of her brother who was murdered in Miami Beach in 1997. The Italian label is best-known for its brazenly-sexy silhouettes and over-the-top glamour.
