Egypt's Foreign Minster Mohamed Kamel Amr told U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry on Thursday that the military overthrow of President Mursi was not a military coup. (SOUNDBITE) (English) EGYPTIAN FOREIGN MINISTER, MOHAMED KAMEL AMR, SAYING: "The American side is a strategic partner to Egypt and the welfare of Egypt is important to them and I hope that they will read the situation in the right way, that this is not a military coup in any way. This was actually the overwhelming will of the people." The semantics matter. Labeling the overthrow of President Mohamed Mursi a 'coup' would trigger economic sanctions and could mean a loss of vital U.S. aid. Mursi remains under house arrest, while authorities also arrested 15 other Islamists. An Islamist coalition led by the Brotherhood called on people across the nation to protest in a "Friday of Rejection" following weekly prayers. But for anti-Mursi supporters, more celebrations in Tahrir Square overnight and hopes of a better, while uncertain, future.
