ROUGH CUT (NO REPORTER NARRATION)
STORY: North Korea's state-run television on Saturday (July 6) broadcast a video of Kim Jong-un supervising a live artillery drill.
The North's state-run television KRT showed Kim looking through binoculars to watch the drill, carried out by unit 851.
KRT said Kim ordered the drill to practise the country's military capabilities.
KRT did not specify where the drill was conducted, but said it took place on June 30.
The video was released as North and South Korean officials held talks aimed at seeking a way to reopen a jointly run industrial zone.
North Korea is calling for an early restart of the Kaesong Industrial zone - a rare source of steady cash for the impoverished North, a month after the last attempt at dialogue between the two Koreas collapsed in acrimony over protocol.
